Job # 1704-10Senior Service Technician (Mechatronic) Laboratory & Industrial Equipment - Melbourne

• $65-80,000 base + super + car allowance + bonus
• Based in Port Melbourne office. 30% on the tools and 70% supervising your team.
• Install and maintain Gas Generator equipment throughout Australia.

Enjoy being on the tools 30% & supervising 70% up to 8 service techs.
Electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical. Friendly entrepreneurial Co.

The company:
• International ‘start up’ still small in Australia
• New office in Port Melbourne
• Own products of gas generators to replace gas bottle usage with existing instrumentation in laboratory and industrial installations
• Great equipment with a usable life of over 10 years

• $65 to 80,0000 base salary + super + $15,000 car allowance + fuel + e-tag + mobile phone
• Some of the equipment is sold directly by your sales colleagues and some is sold by corporate with Other Manufacturer’s Equipment as a complete system.

The job:
• Enjoy being a key part of this small, dynamic and entrepreneurial team.
• Work from the new head office in Port Melbourne (The move has not yet happened so you will probably be helping moving and unpacking boxes. Especially in the service department and demonstration laboratory.)
• Enjoy your combined role of being ‘on the tools’, and supervising up to 8 other service technicians
• Some of the service technicians are early in their career and would benefit from your experience and guidance.
• Installations, commissioning, routine maintenance
• Run the service department ‘profit centre’
• Manage spare parts
• Place forward orders so you have what you need when you need it. Allowing for international shipping.
• Use your logic and organisational skills to solve both equipment and people issues
• Be involved with the recruitment and training of new staff.
• No on call roster. No night or weekend work. Ample time is provided during normal working hours.
• Scheduling of work is done with the aim of finishing at a normal time however there may be some extra time required for specific installations.

You:
• Able to manage and mentor other service technicians – team up to 8
• Hands on experience with electrics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical work
• You will rarely be scheduled for routine work but may be needed occasionally
• Work mainly in Melbourne with occasional travel
• High energy with a strong desire to succeed
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English – correct spelling, sentence structure, clear and friendly telephone voice
• Able to train staff and customers
• Make presentations to technical and non technical audiences
• Energetic, yet calm personality – look at, analyse and solve the problems with grace
• Be calm and considerate of others
• Passion for knowledge and wanting to put that knowledge into practice
• Professional personal presentation
• Enjoy working in a small team, getting involved with everything
• Excellent customer service focus
• TAFE, Uni or Military training in Mechatronics or similar ideally
• Restricted Electrical Licence
• Current drivers licence and current passport


Please note:
• Because of the time differences between Melbourne and the international head office there will be webcam / skype meetings after hours
• As the team in Australia is small you will be doing a lot of reading and learning yourself and enjoying the freedom and entrepreneurial culture
• This is NOT a massive multinational company
• The salary covers all work
